Heritage Cast Iron Rainwater Systems

Some materials suit older buildings properly. Cast iron is one of them.

You can spot the difference straight away. The depth of the profiles. The weight of the brackets. The sharper detailing around hopper heads and downpipes. Plastic systems try to imitate it, but on period homes and heritage projects, they rarely sit quite right.

At Cast Iron Warehouse, we supply complete Apex Heritage cast iron rainwater systems built for projects where appearance matters as much as long-term performance. From Victorian ogee guttering and moulded profiles through to plain half round gutters, rectangular downpipes, and traditional hopper heads, the range is designed to closely replicate historic cast iron styles using authentic sand cast manufacturing methods.

But this isn’t reclaimed guttering dragged out of a salvage yard.

Modern Apex Heritage systems combine traditional casting with current manufacturing standards, giving you cleaner consistency, reliable fitment, and far stronger durability across exposed UK weather conditions. The system is compliant with BS 460:2002 Cast Iron Rainwater Goods standards and is crafted for a service life exceeding 40 years with very little maintenance.

Cast iron gutters painted in the factory are available in eight Heritage colours such as Black, Anthracite Grey, Moss Green, and Oxide Red.

The painting process done at the factory provides a smoother and more durable finish while minimising the time spent on-site installing by as much as 60%. From repairing a historic building, rejuvenating a stone house, or installing rainwater systems for bigger architectural projects, our cast iron gutters can provide you with the perfect traditional feel.

How Cast Iron Guttering Can Change a Building

Proper cast iron rainwater changes more than drainage. It changes the whole appearance of the property. On period buildings especially, original rooflines and architectural detailing can easily get lost once modern plastic guttering is added over time. This London Victorian property was upgraded using traditional cast iron guttering and downpipes to restore a cleaner, more authentic heritage finish. The sharper detailing, deeper profiles, and genuine painted cast iron completely transform the façade without changing the building itself.
