Not all cast iron gutters are the same.
It is particularly important to select the same profile when replacing existing guttering, since even gutters of the same dimensions can have different joints and fittings. If you're unsure, have a look through our guide on choosing the correct profile.
Plain Half Round cast iron gutters have a straightforward curved profile suitable for cottages, traditional and historic houses, barns and conversions. You can order them in 100 mm, 115 mm, 125 mm and 150 mm sizes.
Beaded Half Round gutters are characterised by a small raised bead at their front edges.
The bead provides a more decorative appearance compared with standard Half Round gutters. We offer them in sizes of 115 mm and 125 mm.
Victorian Ogee cast iron gutters have a shaped front face rather than a half-round profile.
This type of guttering is frequently used on Victorian terraces, townhouses and restoration projects where the original architectural detailing needs to be preserved.
Moulded Ogee cast iron gutters have a more pronounced decorative profile.
They are often preferred for substantial period buildings, churches, traditional and heritage properties, and restorations where a more prominent gutter profile is required.
Hargreaves Deepflow cast iron gutters have a deeper section than conventional Half Round guttering.
This makes them an option for installations where higher rainwater capacity is required, depending on the roof drainage needs. Available in 100 x 75 mm and 125 x 75 mm sizes.

Buying the gutter lengths is not enough. For a complete installation, you will also need the proper brackets, outlets, unions, stop ends and connecting downpipes.

Two sections described as 125mm cast iron guttering are not necessarily interchangeable.
If you're repairing an older property, you should know the exact specifications of the existing rainwater goods.
Start by taking a photo of your gutter from the end, as it is usually the simplest way to distinguish between Half Round, Beaded, Victorian Ogee and Moulded profiles. Then measure the width and depth, downpipe diameter, outlet locations and how the brackets are fixed.
Do not assume that all existing 4-inch or 5-inch gutters will fit modern replacement sections. Castings from different manufacturers can vary in shape and dimensions.
Isolated damage can sometimes be repaired by replacing individual sections of your existing guttering, provided the surrounding guttering is sound and compatible fittings are available.

Common sizes of Plain Half Round gutters are 100 mm (4"), 115 mm (4½"), 125 mm (5") and 150 mm (6"). Other profiles, including Moulded Ogee and Deepflow, are often specified by both width and depth.
The choice depends not only on the appearance of the gutter. Roof area, rainfall intensity, gutter gradient, outlet positions and downpipe capacity all influence how effectively the system drains water.
If you want to replace the existing installation, you must first check its original dimensions and profile. When designing a completely new system, you should choose gutter and downpipe sizes that provide enough drainage capacity.

Plain Half Round is one of the more affordable cast iron products. Larger and more decorative profiles and more complicated rainwater systems are usually more expensive.
