Factory-Painted Cast Iron, Without the Guesswork
One of the simplest ways of making your cast iron rainwater system blend in with the structure is choosing the right finish.
The Alumasc Apex Heritage cast iron range comes in eight different factory painted finishes in the following RAL colours: Black, Anthracite Grey, Moss Green, Oxide Red, Chestnut Brown, Flower Blue, Traffic Red and White.
You have enough options to either match existing rainwater goods or coordinate the guttering with your windows, doors, stonework and other parts of the building.
For most traditional properties, painted black is the obvious option. This colour works perfectly for Victorian houses, cottages and stone buildings where you need an authentic rainwater system which doesn't "distract" from the architecture. Anthracite Grey provides a more modern look, while Moss Green and Oxide Red can be used to enhance the exterior of heritage and rural properties.
Factory-painted guttering also saves you from the effort of finishing on-site. Instead of installing primed cast iron gutters and applying paint afterwards, the colour is applied in the factory, thus ensuring more consistent finish across the lengths of guttering, fittings and downpipes.
If you'd rather finish the guttering yourself, there is also the option of factory-primed Apex Heritage. Please note that primed cast iron needs to be finished with the proper finishing system after installation. For more information please read our guide on how to paint cast iron guttering properly.
No matter what finish you choose, please consider the whole building instead of just the guttering. With the right property, changing the colour will make a big difference in the look of the roofline.
